Mayor Michael J. Glaser has become the quiet architect of Kenner’s resurgence. A lifelong resident and descendant of the city’s first mayor, Glaser rose from a 1990 police recruit to Police Chief, keeping Kenner among the safest cities in the South. Winning the office as Mayor with nearly 75% of the vote, he promised to rebuild trust, bring finances in order, and focus the city government. He lived up to his promise.
Since taking office, Mike has focused on repairing the fundamentals of city government. He stabilized Kenner’s finances, restructured the budget, and activated millions in long‑dormant federal and state funds to jump‑start long‑overdue improvements. His administration has pushed forward major overhauls to roads, drainage, and sewerage systems, ensuring the city’s core infrastructure is upgraded. Mike restored public confidence by emphasizing accountability and teamwork across departments. He created a more functional and collaborative government by having the Mayor’s Office, Council, and Police Chief work in harmony. In a moment when public trust is fragile, Glaser has reorganized city operations, restored transparency, and rebuilt partnerships across government.
